Top Kit vs. Bottom Kit

Top Kit

You'll want a Top Kit if:

There is less than 1.5 inches (38mm) of clearance between the tank and the throttle housing at full right turn.

There's a heated grip wire that comes out of the bottom half of your rubber grip flange.

Bottom Kit

You'll want a Bottom Kit if:

There's a heated grip wire that comes out the top half of your rubber grip flange.

There are no other interferences. The majority of motorcycles will be able to use the Bottom Kit.

How to Determine Fitment

Will it fit your motorcycle?

Steps to determine fitment

Step 1: Check for adequate spacing for the ATLAS between the throttle housing and the grip flange.

All you need is a gap of 2.5 mm or greater between the grip and the throttle housing. That's roughly 3 thick bank cards wide. If you need more space than this, you can most likely pull back your grip flange to gain the room needed. Please play the video under the section "Will it for your motorcycle" and scroll to 33 seconds. This will show you how to pull the grip flange back.

Step 2: Use our 'Make, Model and Year' search tool to locate your motorcycle. The search tool will show you exactly which unit to purchase. If you can't find your motorcycle, please click the Contact Us button below. We are happy to help you make this decision.

If you can't find your model and you know which kit you need, select 'Other' in the 'Model' section to gain access to all kits.

Friction Pads

Everything you need to know about using the friction pads with the ATLAS Throttle Lock.

Friction Pads are required.
The ATLAS Throttle Lock was designed to be used with friction pads. Friction pads can last 60,000 miles or more as long as you choose the right pad for your bike. You will also preserve your pad by avoiding any contact with your throttle housing’s sharp seam. This is explained in our installation instructions.
Which friction pad should you use?
The friction pads come in 4 different thicknesses. You will only need to apply one pad to your ATLAS. Watch our installation videos and follow the instructions to determine which friction pad works best.
Are the friction pads adjustable?
Yes, they are! The pegs at the end of the friction pads have 2 equally spaced notches which can be cut off to move the friction pad away from the throttle housing’s curved ridge. This is explained in our installation instructions.

Great throttle addition

This is my second Atlas throttle control. I am always impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of this product. It works perfectly with my cruise control expectations. I will continue to use this product again and again. Thank you, Atlas.

A handy bit of kit

It takes a bit of faffing to set up if you've got gorilla sized hands, but with a little patience it was soon fitted.

I would suggest a few changes; the top strap is a little flimsy, it needs some pressure to grip the throttle tube and it buckled trying to make it grip. Once straightened I had to try again, successfully, maybe a thicker gauge of metal would be better.

Also the friction pad, could you perhaps rejig it so it was positioned closer to the throttle tube, maybe cut a half moon in the friction pad so it follows the circular shape of the throttle tube?? My cable housing/starter switch has a 10mm flat next to the tube, then bevels out. With the friction pad's current position only 50% of the pad makes contact with the flat.

I had intended to nip across the Channel to France, but had to postpone, so as yet I've not proved it's worth, but running up and down motorways and the like it has impressed me, just making adjustments going up and down hills. You could sit there all day long on the flat, it really does work and is easily disengaged. I like it!

it does not fit T7 with OEM heated grips 🥲

When I first purchased the atlas throttle lock, it wasn’t working for me, but then I contacted the company and then they help me get it right. It works amazing. The support is great.

On my 1999 Valkyrie

I was easy to install. I just used it on a 2200-mile trip. It worked fine. I like that I could adjust my speed as I was riding with the group and speed varied all the time. The Atlas allowed my wrist and hand grip to rest and stretch when I needed it. Thank you for the product.

Does what it says it will do

After my fourth shoulder repair, I needed some way to relax my right arm on long rides. I heard about the Atlas Throttle lock on Adventure Rider Radio, so ordered one for the bike on which I would take my next long trip. It took minutes to install (though I did use the wrong size friction pad the first time and had to do it over..my fault) and does exactly what it says it does. One button holds the throttle in place, though it’s easy to turn it if the need arises, and the other instantly releases it. The engineering in the device is amazing.

Great device, great value for money

The Atlas Throttle Lock is a great solution for bikes that don’t have cruise control. It’s neat, very slick looking and easy to mount. The instructions are super easy to follow. The only thing to really focus on really is choosing the right version (Top or Bottom kit), but the guide on their website is very helpful. I’ve mounted mine on a 2024 Triumph Scrambler and did a 6k trip with it over the summer without issues. Just bear in mind it's not cruise control, it just holds the throttle in place, so be mindful on up and down hill stretches.

Worth the money! Fits Motion Pro ATV conversion throttles. Helps with winching.

I was suffering from “numb thumb” every time I rode my Yamaha ATV. After converting it to a Motion Pro twist throttle…it helped, but I still needed to give my right hand a break every now and then. The Atlas fit on the Motion Pro perfectly, and now when I need to shake out my right hand, I put it on cruise and steer with my left hand for a minute or so. Perfect solution! Also, when winching in neutral, it’s nice to set a higher idle with the Atlas (in neutral of course). The Atlas has made long ATV trips much more enjoyable. Buy it!

Pricey but reliable

Very reliable and much better than the low-priced copies. Not a substitute for an electronic cruise control, but very useful for giving your hand a break, especially on long flat stretches.
